the real exorcist of emily rose
Anneliese was screaming in different languages and voices, often arguing with herself. She claimed to be possessed by six demons, some of those
names that were claimed were Judas Iscariot, Nero, Cain, Adolf Hitler and even Lucifer. Anneliese’s plight lasted almost 8 years, in which
hundreds of exorcisms were performed, while Emily’s lasted about 2 months and involved only 1 exorcism. In real life there WAS a particularly
significant exorcism that took place on Halloween night, 1975, in which the demons seemed to have been expelled, only to return later. Anneliese
began committing acts of self-mutilation at this time, and the act of tearing off her clothes and urinating on the floor became commonplace.
Anneliese's parents, as well as the exorcists, were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence and omitting first aid. They were
sentenced to 6 months in jail and probation. Anneliese was a devout Catholic but in 1968, she was diagnosed as epileptic following such symptoms
as rigidity, contortions and paralysis. During a short stay in a psychiatric hospital Anneliese began having hallucinations, during which she
would claim to have seen demonic faces, which led her to believe that she was possessed by demons. Anneliese's attacks were sometimes so strong
that she would have to be held down by 3 men, or even chained up. During this time, Anneliese found her life somewhat return to normal as she
could again go to school, take final examinations at the Pedagogic Academy in Wurzburg, and go to church.
Anneliese also claimed to see and speak with Mary and Jesus. Anneliese no longer believed that traditional medicine would cure her. By the
summer of 1973, her parents agreed. Anneliese’s parents, and the priest who officiated Michel’s exorcism, were brought to trial on charges of
manslaughter, and sentenced to six months in prison. Michel's grave has since become an ad-hoc holy site for devout believers, even though the
Church later issued a statement denying that Michel had ever been possessed.
Anneliese, it seems, tried to repent for her mum's "sin" esp. This whole situation might
have triggered this multiple personality disorder. Anneliese?s body didn?t even find peace after the girl?s death. Because of some believe in
miracles, it was said that her body doesn?t decay, her corpse gets exhumed 11/2 year after the burial. Anneliese (pictured right) endured 67
rites of exorcism over a period of 10 months. Over time, the ligaments in her knees ruptured due to the 600 genuflections that she performed
obsessively during each exorcism session.
Anneliese is pictured on the left. Anneliese's parents, as well as the exorcists, were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence

exorcism,exorcisms
Exorcisms ensue and, ultimately, the girl dies in the aftermath of the priest's efforts. A courtroom battle over whether or not the priest is
responsible for her death then takes place, and in the end he is found guilty of murder but is, for all intents and purposes, exonerated.
Exorcism is, of course, one such "bizarre" practice that is an easy target of ridicule, and movies like Scott Derrickson's The Exorcism of Emily
Rose (2005) are almost guaranteed to send any tried-and-true atheist into an apoplectic fit. Based on a true story (I can see the atheist rolling
his/her eyes now), this film is less of a horror movie (though there are some mildly scary scenes) and more of a courtroom drama. Exorcism is
different from most of the horror films that hit theaters every week. The thrill is in the suspense, not cheap
"someone-just-walked-across-the-screen-really-fast" scares.
demons,demonic,demon
Demonic possession is a plot device that’s been favored within the Hollywood horror genre at least since the release of The Exorcist in 1973
(though arguably earlier). Although some of the films that deal with this seem as though they could actually happen, none of them have really
dealt with the real-life possibility of possession and the curative exorcism ritual that results. Demonic possession, is, after all, a barrel of
scares and moody lighting. The film would've been improved by spending less time with the agnostic defense attorney (Laura Linney, who I have
never really liked except in Kinsey ) and more with the serious emotional relationships between Emily Rose and her family and friends: the
jeopardy of real human relationships pitted against the jeopardy of the immortal soul. Demons exist, whether you believe in them or not. Your
involvement in this trial might just open you up to their attacks.
Demonic possession is a frightening topic. Why would devils possess a human being, and what does this mean? Demonic possession requires that
the will of the individual is usurped and the will of an evil entity prevails at some stage. As told in the story of Job in the OT and the
parable of the lost sheep of Jesus, God would not allow the will of His faithful to be usurped as an example to others.
